Argentina is the land of tango, the gaucho (Argentine cowboy) & mate (communal tea).It is also one of the largest producers of wine, and arguably has the best beef in the world. Argentina is the 2nd largest country in South America and is rich in natural beauty and natural resources. From the Iguazu falls in the North, wine country to the west in the Mendoza region, the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires, the Perito Moreno glacier, and the beautiful landscapes of Patagonia, Argentina has something for every traveler to enjoy. It is one of the most diverse countries in the world.
Although Argentina has much to offer a traveler, a large percentage of its 40 million citizens still live below the poverty line. There is still a large disparity between the wealthy and the poor in the country. Argentina is still struggling with this problem, and that is the reason volunteers are needed to work at diverse projects around the country.
We invite you to come and help make a difference at one of our fantastic volunteer projects. With various opportunities in both Salta & Buenos Aires that include; a children’s day centre, a children’s home, a centre for the mentally & physically challenged, a soup kitchen, a centre for drug & alcohol addiction and an inner-city sports project.
Day Centre for Children

There are approximately 50 children who attend this centre every day, who live in the surrounding slum areas of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Each day, these children are provided a meal and snacks. Here they can take care of their hygienic needs, they get to participate in workshops (art, music, theatre), and they are assisted with school work. The kids are given much love, affection, and support from the staff and volunteers. Our international volunteers provide assistance in all aspects of child care, and maintenance of the centre.

Pinchita Children’s Home

“Pinchicha” is home to 35 children who have been placed there for various reasons such as; parents have limited or no financial resources to care for thechild, physical or sexual abuse of the child, death of parent, or child was found homeless on the street. The goal of this home is to reintegrate these children back in to their family unit, if at all possible. If this is not a possibility, these children will be eligible for adoption. The children range in ages from 3 to 17 years. Many of these children have been living in this home for many years, and some are accompanied by their siblings who have also been removed from the family home.Our international volunteers assist in all aspects of child care, and maintenance of the home. This could include; assisting in serving meals or snacks, bathing the children, and assisting with school work. This project is a great place to make a difference!

Centre for the Mentally & Physically Challenged

This foundation started over 20 years ago with the goal of supporting people of all ages who suffer with a mental or physical handicap, in all aspects of their lives. The foundation is set in a rural community on a farm where care, treatment, rehabilitation and entertainment programs are provided to the residents. The farm has a working catering service and a bakery which is manned solely by the residents of this facility. The foundation also started a fútbol (soccer) team which is now a member of the Argentina National Fútbol League for Physically Challenged People. The organization has been attempting to erase the negative stigma still placed on physically or mentally handicapped people in Argentina. Our international volunteers may assist in all activities at the centre.

Soup Kitchen & Day Centre

Located in Salta (far north of Argentina), this organization was founded with the purpose of assisting impoverished mothers who had no one to care for their children while they worked all day. This centre, gave them a safe place to leave their children during the work day. Mothers are assured their children will be given a nutritious meal and a snack each day. There are 50 young children and adolescents who attend this centre on a daily basis. Ages range from 2 to 17 years old. They participate in activities such as tending a garden where the children learn to plant and care for the plants. The children also learn to raise rabbits, and chickens for eggs. Each day they are assisted with their school work and are able to participate in all types of different workshops.
